PhpNitroWrite native mobile apps in PHP.

A real embedded PHP runtime on the device — no remote server, no transpilation, no WebView. If you know how to write PHP, you know how to write a native screen.

One codebase. Five platforms.

The same PHP screen — the same Engine\Native\* classes, the same build() — runs on Android, iOS, Linux, macOS, and Windows, with no platform-specific code to write. This isn't a WebView adapting itself: each platform has its own native rendering engine (Canvas on Android, Core Graphics on iOS/macOS, Cairo on Linux) replaying the same draw-command protocol your PHP code already produces. Write the screen once, it draws everywhere — natively, every time.

🍎iOSTested in CI, not yet on device
🐧LinuxThe most advanced of the three desktop targets
💻macOSReuses the iOS engine
🪟WindowsProtocol layer only for now

Honestly: not every platform is at the same stage yet (French docs for the full detail — mobile, desktop) — but the central bet is already proven: the PHP doesn't change between platforms, only the engine drawing it does.

How it works

  1. 1
PHP computes the screen — your code builds a Widget tree, a constraint layout pass, then a paint pass — the same model as Flutter's RenderObject.
  2. 2
The result travels as JSON — a flat list of draw commands (rect, text, icon...), no HTML, no DOM.
  3. 3
A real Canvas replays it — android.graphics.Canvas (Skia) on Android, Core Graphics on iOS.

PhpNitro Go — PhpNitro's own Expo Go. Scan a QR code from your terminal and watch your app run live on your phone — no Gradle build, no cable, no reinstalling on every change. (French docs for now — see the French page.)

Quick start

Requirements: PHP ≥ 8.1 and Composer.

  1. 1
    Scaffold a project — php bin/phpx new my-app
  2. 2
Install dependencies — cd my-app && composer install
  3. 3
    Create a first screen — bin/phpx make:page Home /
  4. 4
Start the dev server — bin/phpx serve, then open http://127.0.0.1:8090/

Documentation in progress

The full guides, reference, architecture, and widget catalog pages are currently written in French only. The French documentation covers everything in detail — English translations are on the way.
